A message from Beth Palmer
Shaping Leaders and Serving OthersFifteen years ago, I stepped into the world of Girl Scouts for a very simple reason: my granddaughter, Kelsey. She was the spark that got me started, but what kept me here for nearly two decades is the incredible journey of watching our girls grow. 
In our troop, we walk alongside girls from the time they are 5 years old until they graduate at 18. Watching them transform from wide-eyed Daisies into confident, leadership-minded young women is the greatest reward a leader could ask for.     
Our troop has a heart for the Community. If you ask anyone what our troop is known for, the answer is simple: community service! When people ask what kind of projects we do for our local community, my answer is always "everything!" From cleaning up the highways, our beautiful river and the Glory Community Garden to flag ceremonies, laying wreaths at our veteran’s cemetery and volunteering at the church’s local food pantry and closet. Whether we are helping neighbors, beautifying local spaces, or stepping up whenever a need arises, these girls are always ready to roll up their sleeves and give back.  
Join us on Thursdays! We are a tight-knit, active troop, and we are always excited to welcome new faces into our Girl Scout family. If you know a young girl who is ready to build friendships, learn new skills, and make a real difference in the world, we would love to have her join us. Moving Forward with HopeRio Texas Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church was held last week in Corpus Christi, Texas. Attendees were encouraged to Love Boldly, Serve Joyfully, and Lead Courageously! 
Pastor David Payne leads the Board of Ordained Ministry for the conference. 
Our own Lamar Davis serves as the Disaster Recovery Coordinator for the conference. 
Pastor Katie Toalson is in the top left corner of photo. Our conference celebrated 70th anniversary of women’s full ordination in The Methodist Church! 
Matt Ratliff is pictured far right in the front of photo. Matt Ratliff was ordained as an elder. Matt got his start at KFUMC in the choir.

Agents of Truth VBS was Spy-tacular!
Last week, our kids had a blast seeking out God's truth during Agents of Truth VBS! Throughout the week, our junior agents investigated clues, completed special missions, and discovered that God's truth can never stay hidden. Together, we explored three powerful Bible stories that reminded us that God is always at work and His truth always comes to light. On Day One, we learned about Rahab and the Spies (Joshua 2) and discovered that God's truth cannot stay hidden and that God can use anyone in His plans. On Day Two, we investigated Elijah and the Prophets of Baal (1 Kings 18:20-46) and learned that God is the one and only true God. On Day Three, we explored the story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego (Daniel 3) and discovered that faith stands out and truth cannot be covered. Our key verse throughout the week was: "For all that is secret will eventually be brought into the open, and everything that is concealed will be brought to light and made known to all." Luke 8:17 Here are some highlights from our week together! Games Our agents put their skills to the test through a variety of exciting games connected to each day's Bible lesson. 
Children hid beneath the parachute as they learned about Rahab and the spies, used scarves to remember God's power on Mount Carmel, and tossed beanbags while exploring how Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego stood firm in their faith.     
Crafts Our creative agents stayed busy making their own spy gear throughout the week. 
Children designed official spy badges, created binoculars to help them search for clues, and crafted fun disguises complete with glasses and mustaches. Each project helped reinforce our theme of uncovering God's truth.     
Bible In Bible Discovery, agents dug deeper into each of our Bible stories through discussion, activities, and worksheets. 
Children learned how God's truth is revealed throughout Scripture and explored what these stories mean for their own lives today.  
Music & Movement There was plenty of energy in Music & Movement! 
Agents participated in fun rhythm games and interactive activities that helped reinforce the week's lessons while keeping everyone moving and engaged.    
Meditation & Prayer At our Meditation & Prayer station, children learned practical ways to slow down, talk with God, and listen for His guidance. 
Through breathing techniques and communication activities, agents practiced focusing their hearts and minds on God's truth. 
Snack Every good agent needs time to refuel! 
Snack Time gave children a chance to enjoy a tasty treat, connect with friends, and take a short break before heading off on their next mission.   
Closing Celebration! We wrapped up our week of spy training with a fun-filled Closing Celebration! 
Families joined us for lunch as we celebrated all that our agents had learned throughout the week. The dunking booth, bubbles, and plenty of laughter made for a memorable afternoon and the perfect ending to an amazing week of uncovering God's truth together.

A special thank you to our children, families, volunteers, and leaders for making Agents of Truth VBS 2026 a week to remember. We are so grateful for each person who helped make this mission a success! We can't wait to see where God's truth leads us next!
