FOOD 4 KIDS SERVANT TEAM IS AWESOME! Kerrville First United Methodist Church’s Food4Kids program provides food on the weekends for children experiencing food insecurity from our neighboring school, Nimitz Elementary. Other churches in our community have also adopted local schools in our county to be a blessing! KFUMC is currently helping 68 students and their families who do not have enough nutritious food to sustain them throughout the weekends. Many families depend on breakfast and lunch for their children at school and when school is not in session, like on weekends, it provides a hardship for the family. Our awesome unpaid servants help with the shopping, packing, delivering and distributing of the food to make this program possible. Food4Kids is a food relief ministry connected with our Mustard Seed Pantry. Thank you for supporting Food4Kids! Mobile Mustard Seed Shares Food Out In Our Community! KFUMC and Light on the Hill, among others, were recognized for Back-to-school Efforts in our community with the Kerrville Kindness Award by city council! Harvest Festival this Fall!

From our friend, Jane Davis…
I am praying for you this morning… Thanks to our daughter, daughter-in-law and grandkids, I’ve learned to love puzzles. Life is often like a puzzle…right?! You have a box of hundreds of colorful pieces. You pour them out…flip them over…and oh my! You don’t know how or where to start. You sort. You look at the finished picture on the box and think, “how in the world will I put all of this together?” YOU won’t. But GOD WILL. We all have choices to make…decisions to be made… But sometimes the parts of our lives seem so jumbled, broken, confusing and disjointed that we can’t focus on the the big picture…the completed project…the direction we should go. This is where God steps in. If we let Him. We all need to ask the Master Planner, our Creator to put the pieces into place. Little-by-little the colors will get sorted. The edges will start fitting together. Your answer will more and more visible. God’s got this! Trust Him. “Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, ‘This is the way; walk in it.’” Isaiah 30:21 Mustard Seed Ministries Mustard Seed Ministries at Light on the Hill is about neighbors helping neighbors. At Light on the Hill, we pray that loving others and sharing Jesus and the hope that He brings to life, would be such a natural part of who we are and how we live that we don’t call it ‘outreach’ or ‘mission’ but simply ‘living’ in community. We desire to have long-term relationships with our neighbors so that we can truly call each other ‘friend.’

Light on the Hill is excited to announce that we have received the Methodist Healthcare Ministries Community Impact Grant for 2023! This grant will allow us to expand our outreach efforts to our community by funding support staffing and program expenses for ongoing food relief and community connections to help people with their physical, intellectual, emotional and spiritual needs. This funding will provide for a project manager to oversee the initiative and allows us to hire two part-time community health workers to be the boots on the ground serving our community. Millie Goode will serve as the project manager and Emily Morales and Lori Payne will serve as our community health workers. We are so grateful and excited for all who will benefit from this amazing expansion to our efforts to serve our neighbor! Thank you MHM!!! |
