Thank you Church! We are so grateful for the generosity of our faith community! You heard of the need for diapers for babies in our community and you answered the call. Many boxes and packages of diapers and wet wipes have been donated. In fact, over 6,000 diapers will be shared with moms for their little ones! Thank you! Light on the Hill and Methodist Healthcare Ministries continue to reach out and walk alongside families in our community. Last week, we partnered with the Texas Department of Health and Human Services to host car seat inspections and help with updated car seats if needed and we shared diapers and wipes! Emmaus EventsOther Events & ActivitiesIsn’t Pastor David’s sermon series, “Attitude of Gratitude” so good?!! Always a message I need, just when I need it. I love how our prayer warrior, Jane Davis shares this morning, too… Blessings, Beth I am praying for you this morning… Summer brings such an abundance of tasty crops… Strawberries, juicy and sweet. Tomatoes, flavorful. Peaches, luscious. Sweet corn, crisp and delicious… For me, abundance and gratefulness go hand-in-hand. We are in need… God provides. Do we remember to be grateful? Or, do we just take His mercy, grace and provision for granted, and move on? Stop right here. When we give gifts to our children, do we appreciate it when they say “thank you”? God loves it when we, His children, recognize and appreciate what He gives to us… Constantly. When we are grateful, it’s hard to complain. When we are grateful, it’s hard to feel sorry for ourselves. When we are grateful, it changes our attitude… About everything. “And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of His glory in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19 “And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.” 2 Corinthians 9:8 We are approaching Memorial Day Weekend. Originally called Decoration Day, from the early tradition of decorating graves with flowers, wreaths and flags, Memorial Day is a day for remembering those who have died in service to our country. I hope we can all take the time to be thankful for all of the brave men and women who paid the ultimate price for the freedoms that we all have in America. It has been said that bravery is the absence of fear, but real courage is being afraid and still sacrificing for others. Thank you! You defended us with your lives and we are forever grateful! Upcoming ActivitiesVBS 2025 Sign up NOW if you are in Pre-K through completed 2nd grade for Vacation Bible School. Don't miss out on joining our amazing children! Adults and older youth, sign up to serve as leaders and helpers. It'll be a BLAST!!! SAVE THE DATE! Camp Wesley is coming soon for completed 3rd through 5th graders! A Big Thank You!A Big Thank You! to both Ingram Tom Moore and Tivy High School students for helping serve at Light on the Hill this week! This week on the Midweek Mission Moment, we showcase the amazing children and youth programs here at KFUMC! The theme for this year's VBS was "Heart of a Champion," inspired by the Olympics! Last week was VBS and it was fantastic! Just hours before it began you could find me powerwalking between all the classrooms frantically trying to remember everything and predict things that could go wrong. I wanted it to be perfect, and I was stressed! I should have realized that it would be great no matter what, simply because we were all coming together to learn about and worship the Lord. As our amazing crew of volunteers walked in, followed a few minutes later by all of our very excited kids, my anxiety melted away and my excitement began to build. The room filled with giggles and squeals of excitement...you could feel God's work beginning in that room. The four days passed quickly and so much fun was had! The kids were challenged to memorize four different memory verses and most of them did! If they memorized one they received a metal, if they memorized three or more they were given a trophy. On the last day, one of the boys came over to recite a verse and sadly told me he wasn't sure if he had any memorized at all. I told him to try and gave him the first word of each verse. To his surprise, he knew every single one. He jumped in the air as I handed him his trophy and ran back to his friends yelling that he did it! I didn't stop smiling for the rest of the evening. We also told the kids that we would be raising money for the Costa Rica Children's home. Each group was encouraged to bring their dollars and coins to put in the offering. The group that raised the most money would get to throw pie at Pastor David and me on the last day. Our VBS kids took this very seriously and ended up raising over $950. The Jamaica team took hold in the gold and got to pie us as we closed out VBS. The fellowship hall rang with laughter! I know I left feeling like I had developed the Heart of a Champion through the week, and I hope the kids did too! A huge thank you to everyone who volunteered for VBS, it would not have been possible without you! I can't wait for next year! Tuesday McRorey _______________ Forge Youth went on a mission trip to New Mexico! What did our one week of mission look like? 6 Suburbans and Vans 22 Hours on the Road 31 Hours of Work 100s of Hearts Touched Our Forge Youth Ministry teamed up with Boerne First UMC youth group and the local youth of Santa Fe, New Mexico to do some serious good! The youth got to see the real-life struggle of the unhoused, they packaged and handed out hundreds of containers of food to the food insecure, and helped the community care for local parks by cleaning up and doing some landscaping. Other students socialized dogs at the Humane Society, cut steps into the side of a mountain for the U.S. Forrest Service, built a ramp with the New Mexico Ramp Project, and let the first responders of Santa Fe know they are loved and prayed over with freshly baked cookies. We learned in worship and small group throughout the week that opportunities to serve are all around us, and that our faith asks more of us than simple words. Hearts that are truly in love with God show that love through their deeds, and faith without works is dead, from James 2:17. These students showed faith on fire. Through blisters and sunburns while they sewed peace and love for the people of Santa Fe. The youth found joy in service, which is something they will carry with them and continue shining here in the Hill Country. Thank you for helping to make this faith-growth opportunity possible. Your tithes go, in part, to supplying the youth program with the space and resources it needs. And, our youth-designated fund, which some of you have contributed to for student scholarships, helps make trips like this affordable for our students. We are blessed to be part of a community that cares about its children and youth. I praise the Lord for you and your faith in action. Kendra Thomas Our Back to School Bash will be Saturday, August 3 at Light on the Hill! If you have gently used clothes that your child has outgrown, we would love for you to consider sharing them.
From Jane Davis… I am praying for you this morning… As I sit in silence, listening for God’s reassuring words, this song bird just keeps chirping his little song. Over and over…it’s like he wants my attention, and sometimes I get so used to his song that I don’t notice. But he’s still there…singing. Do you ever feel like God keeps saying the same thing to you… Over and over? “Trust Me. I’ve got you. I love you. Follow Me. Listen. Give your challenges to Me. Be at peace…I have overcome the world. I will never leave you. I go before you…beside you…behind you. Trust Me.” Over and over, He softly speaks, but … Do we listen? Believe Him? Lay it all before Him? “God is striding ahead of you. He’s right there with you. He won’t let you down; don’t be intimidated. Don’t worry.” Deuteronomy 31:8 (The Message) Forge Youth in BudaVBS at KFUMCVBS at Camp Wesley/LOTHMovie Night at KFUMCForge Youth at GarnerOur Back to School Bash will be Saturday, August 3 at Light on the Hill! Kerrville First United Methodist Church’s Food4Kids program provides food on the weekends for children experiencing food insecurity from our neighboring school, Nimitz Elementary. Other churches in our community have also adopted local schools in our county to be a blessing! KFUMC is currently helping almost 60 students and their families who do not have enough nutritious food to sustain them throughout the weekends. Many families depend on breakfast and lunch for their children at school and when school is not in session, like on weekends, it provides a hardship for the family. Our awesome unpaid servants help with the shopping, packing, delivering and distributing of the food to make this program possible. Food4Kids is a food relief ministry connected with our Mustard Seed Pantry. Thank you for supporting Food4Kids! Thank you to Bryant Williams for his generous gift of a golf cart to our outreach ministry! This will help with providing accessibility for our neighbors with mobility challenges to all of our outreach ministries.
