Click Here! Go to Kerr Together to Learn More Resources. Services. Support. KerrKind.org No Matter What Our Day Brings, God is Always With Us! I am praying for you this morning... Where will your steps lead you today? We think we know...our day is planned out... However, things change sometimes. Visitors you weren't expecting...an unexpected call...Jesus calls someone home...your child gets into a situation at school...unexpected flood waters change the landscape, and our lives...you get that job interview...the dryer breaks...you get a contract on your house...you receive good new from your Doctor...a friend needs you, now. And we thought we knew where our steps were heading today. In an instant, our plan had changed... but it wasn't our plan anyways... It is His. And, though our steps may falter...pause...or stop, for a moment, we can be assured that God's steps for us never change. He's always walking with us...or sometimes carrying us...but never, ever leaving us to find our own way. "Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." — Isaiah 41:10 Jane Davis UMCOR Disaster Case Management Training at KFUMC! Click Here! Go to Kerr Together to Learn More Resources. Services. Support. KerrKind.org There are so many people, churches and organizations continuing to work so hard to help our community on the journey to recovery after the devastating flood. I am so inspired by all of the resilient folks that make Kerr County such a wonderful place to live and work. David, Lori and I were blessed to attend UMCOR disaster case management training last week. We learned so much and are now better equipped to help our community as we move forward in the long-term recovery. More people in our community will receive this same great training when UMCOR brings it to Kerrville in a few weeks. We are so grateful to be able to share and equip others with this knowledge. Even if you are not a trained case manager, the core principals of "Do no harm," and "Show compassion," are the ways we show love for our neighbors every day. Our Emergency Response Team under the leadership of Ray Dunton, has been making an impact in our community. Thank you to all of those amazing unpaid servants! If you want to get involved see Ray's call for help below... Team, We're going to need one more day of work to finish the Center Point house. Click Here! Go to Kerr Together to Learn More Resources. Services. Support. KerrKind.org I am so grateful for Pastor David's leadership in our Kerrville community and most especially in our faith community. Please continue to pray for him and our entire staff as we are committed to serve those hurting and affected most by this tragedy. We have an amazing community and it is so heartwarming to see how everyone is working together to help our neighbors in need. We have an even more amazing God and we continue to lean into the peace and love and grace that only Christ can provide. Thank you to everyone for your prayers and for being the hands and feet of Christ. We are blessed to be able to serve others at a time such as this. Blessings, Beth Rev. Laura Heikes from Myers Park United Methodist interviewed our very own Rev. David Payne about the flooding in our county. If you would like to watch the interview, click the link below. From Jane Davis... I am praying for you this morning… Grief. Exhaustion. Courage. Strength. Grace. Hope. So many feelings… They swirl around in our heads, and cycle around, again and again. GRIEF overtakes us at unexpected times, in unpredictable ways. It’s important for all of us to experience it in our own way, and not push it down. It’s a normal feeling when tragedy strikes. EXHAUSTION…from worry, lack of sleep, working until you can’t lift one foot in front of the other. COURAGE to do the unexpected. To go the extra mile. To go places you don’t want to go…but have to. STRENGTH…that inner power, that only the Holy Spirit can give. Strength to go on. To move forward. To look up. GRACE. When feelings surface, and loving forgiveness is waiting. HOPE. No matter how the events of the past week have affected all of us, we all need to focus on the hope we have in Jesus, and His eternal presence with us, every minute. Let’s focus on the last one today…hope. Hope that the lost will be found. Hope that families will be comforted and find some peace. Hope that the thousands of amazing search, rescue and recovery workers will have what they need today. Hope for the countless volunteers providing whatever is needed, when it’s needed. Hope for tomorrow and the tomorrow’s to come, as our beautiful Hill Country becomes beautiful again. “But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles…” Isaiah 40:31 UMCOR TRAININGAs the flood waters recede, we will activate our Early Response Teams to come in and help with cleaning up and securing the areas affected. Other News & ResourcesAnchored in His Presence In times like these, when rising waters bring loss and uncertainty, we hold fast to the promise of Isaiah 43:2—that God walks with us through every flood and fire. Even in the deepest waters, His presence remains our anchor and our peace. Now is the time to remain in prayer. Call out to God—for those who are hurting, for those offering help, and for our entire community. Pray for strength, healing, and hope. He hears us, and He is near. "When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you." — Isaiah 43:2 Train to AssistThe cost of the training is $30.00, but we want to ensure that finances are not a barrier for anyone who feels called to help. Scholarships are available for those who need assistance. If you would like to request a scholarship, please reach out to Beth Palmer. Thank you Church Family! Thank you, amazing church family, for all of your generous offers of support. We truly appreciate every single one. A Big Thank You!A Big Thank You! to both Ingram Tom Moore and Tivy High School students for helping serve at Light on the Hill this week! What a wonderful time of worship this past Sunday! Every service was overflowing with love and encouragement for our graduating high school seniors and that gift of encouragement was contagious in the very best way! I love that we were able to write notes of encouragement both last week to our college graduates and this week to our high school graduates. I know that God filled me with the Holy Spirit to remind myself to share words and deeds that encourage and bless others. There are so many ways to encourage each other and I pray that together we can make a difference in the lives of many!
Blessings, Beth What a Great Month to Serve! April is Volunteer Appreciation Month, and at Kerrville First United Methodist Church and Light on the Hill at Mount Wesley, we are overflowing with gratitude for our unpaid servants! Our church family was many places, serving many people and epitomizing what being the hands and feet of Christ is all about. We had folks helping serve our neighbors at the San Antonio Food Bank’s Kerr County Mega Food Pantry, where we were blessed to share over 40,000 pounds of food with 350 families and almost 1,000 individuals! Our Mobile Mustard Seed unpaid servants were at a senior apartment complex providing friendship and healthy food for the residents. Our Saint’s Alive Choir blessed residents at local care facilities, too! We had unpaid servants all over town sharing homebound communion, visiting folks in the hospital, delivering food and meals, sending cards, making calls, driving and riding on the buses, teaching Sunday School, and just showing up to serve wherever needed. Thank you to everyone for sharing your prayers, your presence, your gifts, your service, and your witness to bless so many! We appreciate all you do!
