Our shelves and our hearts are full as your generosity has served our neighbors well. Thank you for your donations of non-perishable food!
Thank You Mercy Chefs! We’re so thankful for our friends at Mercy Chefs, who are providing both perishable and non-perishable food for our community just in time for Thanksgiving! Next week during Mustard Seed, we’ll be sharing all the food that Mercy Chefs has generously donated to us. This year, through Light on a Hill, we’ve seen incredible impact — 402 volunteers have served over 3,000 hours, helping distribute 68,328 meals to our community. “It is incredible to see what God has done in such a short time at the Beacon of Hope location at Light on the Hill. Thank you again for your partnership and all you are doing.” -Sharalynn Lucero Flood Relief Effort Information

Dear Church Family, We are grateful that our Mustard Seed Food Pantry can help our neighbors throughout the year with food assistance, but especially during the most recent government shutdown. Thousands of families in Kerr County are affected by the suspension of SNAP benefits. During the month of November, we will be collecting non-perishable food donations in the lobby area at Kerrville First United Methodist Church. Shopping baskets will be available for you to drop off your donations throughout the week and on Sunday mornings. Some food items that are needed are canned chicken, canned chili, canned stew, macaroni and cheese boxes, canned spaghetti sauce, beans and rice. If you want to give a monetary donation, please make your check out to KFUMC and put Mustard Seed in the memo or you can give electronically through the KFUMC website. Thankful for ERT Unpaid Servants! What a blessing to our flood survivors! Grateful for Mustard Seed Ministry! Unpaid servants bless our neighbors! There are so many people, churches and organizations continuing to work so hard to help our community on the journey to recovery after the devastating flood. I am so inspired by all of the resilient folks that make Kerr County such a wonderful place to live and work. David, Lori and I were blessed to attend UMCOR disaster case management training last week. We learned so much and are now better equipped to help our community as we move forward in the long-term recovery. More people in our community will receive this same great training when UMCOR brings it to Kerrville in a few weeks. We are so grateful to be able to share and equip others with this knowledge. Even if you are not a trained case manager, the core principals of "Do no harm," and "Show compassion," are the ways we show love for our neighbors every day. Our Emergency Response Team under the leadership of Ray Dunton, has been making an impact in our community. Thank you to all of those amazing unpaid servants! Leading Through the StormWatch and listen as our very own Rev. David Payne and Beth Palmer join Rev. Lisa Greenwood on the Igniting Imagination Podcast. Need Information About Flood Relief Efforts?Thoughts from Jane Davis... I am praying for you this morning… Things are always changing in our lives… We’re not as young as we were a minute ago. Children leave the nest. Floods, tornadoes and hurricanes change our lives and landscapes. We move from one place to another. Loved ones pass away. Our health changes. Life is different…will it ever be the same as it was yesterday? No. We are experiencing our “new normal." And, there’s hope in our new normal. God was with us in our yesterday… And He’s with us now… Creating. Again and again. That’s what He does. He’s The Creator. Things are different now…and He’s at work, Creating. Building. Restoring. Guiding. Each and every step of the process. And there’s progress. So, just when you’re settling into your new normal...Things will change again. But God never changes. Each of His days are normal for Him. No challenge is too big…for Him. Welcome to your new normal. “But for you who revere My name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its rays.” —Malachi 4:2 So Many Ways to Serve our Neighbors in our Community! Our KFUMC Emergency Response Team (ERT) has been a blessing in our community! the FEMA Individual Assistance registration deadline has been extended to September 28, 2025, for Texans impacted by the July 4th floods. Love God. Love Others. Make A Difference. This is our mission statement. Sounds simple, but living out this mantra takes daily intention. The good news? We don't have to do it alone. Together, we can embody this mission and make a lasting impact. First, love God. Well, that seems like a no-brainer. But loving God is more than just an emotion. It involves a surrender of oneself to God's will and a commitment to living according to His teachings. This includes obeying His commandments, prioritizing His word, and actively engaging in worship and service. Loving God is about aligning one's life with God's purposes and demonstrating love for Him through actions and a transformed life. Second, love others. This means that we are to treat others with kindness and compassion, recognizing the inherent value and dignity of all individuals. If we truly love God, then we must love every one of His children, even the ones who think and act differently than us. Don't we want everyone to know how much they are loved by God? The way we treat others is a reflection of Christ's love. Finally, make a difference. There are many ways to make a difference in the world and impact those around us. Making a difference as a follower of Christ essentially involves a holistic approach. It is about living out our faith, demonstrating God's love through our actions, serving those in need, and sharing the hope and transformation found in Christ. Together, with God's help, we can live out our mission, both near and far! Upcoming EventsVolunteer with Mercy ChefsNeed Support or Info with Flood Relief?25 YEARS...
It went by so fast. Thank you for all of your wonderful words and cards of encouragement celebrating twenty-five years of service at KFUMC. I am so blessed to have the privilege to serve with each of you! Thank you! Blessings, Beth
The last 19 days have been unbelievable.
I know that we have all been heartbroken, and on our knees, praying. But the response of the people who have shown up to help in big, and small ways, and everything in between, has been incredible. I thank God for the helpers. We have first responders from out of town staying with us at Light on the Hill and we are so incredibly blessed to be able to share our campus with these wonderful folks. I know that many of you, in our faith community are asking how they can help? Again, thank you for the prayers and everything else you have been doing for the last two and a half weeks. I want to encourage you to continue praying. Continue to show up to serve our community. Two opportunities we have coming up are Monday morning, July 28, beginning at 7am, we need volunteers to help at the Mega Food Pantry at Light on the Hill. On Saturday morning, August 2, we need folks to help greet and welcome families to the Back to School Bash at Light on the Hill beginning at 8am. If you need more information about either of these events, contact Beth at (830) 459-5847 or [email protected] We will continue to thank God for the helpers as we continue to help the hurting in our community and strive with God’s help to bring hope and healing. Blessings, Beth

Every service was overflowing with love and encouragement for our graduating high school seniors and that gift of encouragement was contagious in the very best way! I love that we were able to write notes of encouragement both last week to our college graduates and this week to our high school graduates. I know that God filled me with the Holy Spirit to remind myself to share words and deeds that encourage and bless others. There are so many ways to encourage each other and I pray that together we can make a difference in the lives of many!
