Love God. Love Others. Make A Difference. This is our mission statement. Sounds simple, but living out this mantra takes daily intention. The good news? We don't have to do it alone. Together, we can embody this mission and make a lasting impact. First, love God. Well, that seems like a no-brainer. But loving God is more than just an emotion. It involves a surrender of oneself to God's will and a commitment to living according to His teachings. This includes obeying His commandments, prioritizing His word, and actively engaging in worship and service. Loving God is about aligning one's life with God's purposes and demonstrating love for Him through actions and a transformed life. Second, love others. This means that we are to treat others with kindness and compassion, recognizing the inherent value and dignity of all individuals. If we truly love God, then we must love every one of His children, even the ones who think and act differently than us. Don't we want everyone to know how much they are loved by God? The way we treat others is a reflection of Christ's love. Finally, make a difference. There are many ways to make a difference in the world and impact those around us. Making a difference as a follower of Christ essentially involves a holistic approach. It is about living out our faith, demonstrating God's love through our actions, serving those in need, and sharing the hope and transformation found in Christ. Together, with God's help, we can live out our mission, both near and far! Upcoming EventsVolunteer with Mercy ChefsNeed Support or Info with Flood Relief?25 YEARS...
It went by so fast. Thank you for all of your wonderful words and cards of encouragement celebrating twenty-five years of service at KFUMC. I am so blessed to have the privilege to serve with each of you! Thank you! Blessings, Beth PORTSMOUTH, VA – On Friday, July 25, Virginia-based disaster relief nonprofit Mercy Chefs held a press conference in Ingram, TX, to announce the opening of a Beacon of Hope Kitchen in the Texas Hill Country. The kitchen will serve as a long-term response hub following the devastating flooding that recently swept through Kerr County. Since the disaster, Mercy Chefs has served nearly 70,000 hot, chef-prepared meals to flood victims, first responders, and volunteers. Now, the organization is committing to an extended presence in the area as the community rebuilds. The new Beacon of Hope Kitchen will operate from Light on the Hill at Mount Wesley, providing hot meals and groceries through December 2025, while plans for a permanent site continue. During this transition, Citywest Church will remain an active meal distribution location, supported by local volunteers. Daily lunch and dinner service will continue without interruption. The kitchen and its newly added warehouse space for food and grocery storage will significantly expand Mercy Chefs’ capacity with upgraded equipment and infrastructure. The last 19 days have been unbelievable.
I know that we have all been heartbroken, and on our knees, praying. But the response of the people who have shown up to help in big, and small ways, and everything in between, has been incredible. I thank God for the helpers. We have first responders from out of town staying with us at Light on the Hill and we are so incredibly blessed to be able to share our campus with these wonderful folks. I know that many of you, in our faith community are asking how they can help? Again, thank you for the prayers and everything else you have been doing for the last two and a half weeks. I want to encourage you to continue praying. Continue to show up to serve our community. Two opportunities we have coming up are Monday morning, July 28, beginning at 7am, we need volunteers to help at the Mega Food Pantry at Light on the Hill. On Saturday morning, August 2, we need folks to help greet and welcome families to the Back to School Bash at Light on the Hill beginning at 8am. If you need more information about either of these events, contact Beth at (830) 459-5847 or [email protected] We will continue to thank God for the helpers as we continue to help the hurting in our community and strive with God’s help to bring hope and healing. Blessings, Beth

Pictures over the past weeksEvents & AnnouncementsMessage from David PayneI am so grateful for Pastor David's leadership in our Kerrville community and most especially in our faith community. Please continue to pray for him and our entire staff as we are committed to serve those hurting and affected most by this tragedy. We have an amazing community and it is so heartwarming to see how everyone is working together to help our neighbors in need. We have an even more amazing God and we continue to lean into the peace and love and grace that only Christ can provide. Thank you to everyone for your prayers and for being the hands and feet of Christ. We are blessed to be able to serve others at a time such as this. Blessings, Beth Rev. Laura Heikes from Myers Park United Methodist interviewed our very own Rev. David Payne about the flooding in our county. If you would like to watch the interview, click the link below. From Jane Davis... I am praying for you this morning… Grief. Exhaustion. Courage. Strength. Grace. Hope. So many feelings… They swirl around in our heads, and cycle around, again and again. GRIEF overtakes us at unexpected times, in unpredictable ways. It’s important for all of us to experience it in our own way, and not push it down. It’s a normal feeling when tragedy strikes. EXHAUSTION…from worry, lack of sleep, working until you can’t lift one foot in front of the other. COURAGE to do the unexpected. To go the extra mile. To go places you don’t want to go…but have to. STRENGTH…that inner power, that only the Holy Spirit can give. Strength to go on. To move forward. To look up. GRACE. When feelings surface, and loving forgiveness is waiting. HOPE. No matter how the events of the past week have affected all of us, we all need to focus on the hope we have in Jesus, and His eternal presence with us, every minute. Let’s focus on the last one today…hope. Hope that the lost will be found. Hope that families will be comforted and find some peace. Hope that the thousands of amazing search, rescue and recovery workers will have what they need today. Hope for the countless volunteers providing whatever is needed, when it’s needed. Hope for tomorrow and the tomorrow’s to come, as our beautiful Hill Country becomes beautiful again. “But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles…” Isaiah 40:31 UMCOR TRAININGAs the flood waters recede, we will activate our Early Response Teams to come in and help with cleaning up and securing the areas affected. Other News & ResourcesAnchored in His Presence In times like these, when rising waters bring loss and uncertainty, we hold fast to the promise of Isaiah 43:2—that God walks with us through every flood and fire. Even in the deepest waters, His presence remains our anchor and our peace. Now is the time to remain in prayer. Call out to God—for those who are hurting, for those offering help, and for our entire community. Pray for strength, healing, and hope. He hears us, and He is near. "When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you." — Isaiah 43:2 Train to AssistThe cost of the training is $30.00, but we want to ensure that finances are not a barrier for anyone who feels called to help. Scholarships are available for those who need assistance. If you would like to request a scholarship, please reach out to Beth Palmer. Thank you Church Family! Thank you, amazing church family, for all of your generous offers of support. We truly appreciate every single one.
